Rhizosphere bacterium Rhodococcus sp. P1Y metabolizes abscisic acid to form dehydrovomifoliol

Abscisic  acid (ABA), crucial for plant stress response, can inhibit seed germination  and root growth. Rhodococcus  sp. P1Y, a rhizosphere bacterium, metabolizes soil ABA as its sole carbon  source. This study identified dehydrovomifoliol as an intermediate product,  revealing a novel bacterial pathway for ABA degradation.
