Integrated global assessment of the natural forest carbon potential

Download Whitepaper

Forests  are crucial carbon sinks, but their C storage capacity is reduced by land use  and climate change. This study found a global deficit of 226 Gt in forest  carbon storage, primarily in low-impact areas. While forests can't replace  emission reductions, conserving, restoring, and sustainably managing diverse  forests can significantly help meet climate and biodiversity goals.
